What Exactly is Agrivoltaics?

Agrivoltaics involves installing solar panels at height or in mobile structures, above or alongside agricultural crops, without blocking useful light, while:

  • Limiting excess heat
  • Reducing water needs
  • Producing electrical energy

What Types of Farmers Can Benefit?

This system is aimed at all Mauritian farmers:

  • Market gardeners
  • Livestock farmers (poultry, cattle, goats)
  • Sugar cane, banana, tropical fruit growers
  • Horticulturists, nursery owners, beekeepers
  • Small farmers or landowners
Only one condition: have at least 200 m² of clear land

CAV II — Phase 2 Key Details

  • Total cumulative capacity: 40 MW for Mauritius, 2 MW for Rodrigues
  • Eligible installations: capacity between 500 kW and 4 MW (hybrid solar PV + BESS)
  • Open to registered planters and fermiers only
  • Applications submitted at any CEB Customer Service Centre from 15 December 2025
  • Scheme operates under the principle of gross metering
